Recent Arrival

Thanks to Stuart for the picture of the latest arrival at the railway this is to be the partner carriage for the Blue DMU unit currently in the C&W barn for restoration work.

Stuart suggested

I think the Strathclyde Orange will go well with the blue :-)

As we will have to repaint it anyway maybe a match pair of blue would still be better.

Nice! Do you have the trainspotters' details for this vehicle - its number and where and when built etc?

52029 is the number on dmu in the photo. Vintage carriages trust survey should list it's last known location and history

Thank you for the photo and keeping us all up to date with the DMU news as the DMU Group appear to be a bit reluctant to photograph their good work, see their recent Twitter posts at @Leyland680.

Spotter Info:

BR 52029 Class 107 DMU: Driving Motor Composite Lavatory built 1961 at Derby - Lot No 30612

Sold by BR in 1993 to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
eventually moved to Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway at Cynheidre and then to the GWSR DMU Group in 2015

The unit has never run in preservation, it was just stored. Good news is that 1 engine has been started while the other needs some TLC to get it back into serviceable condition.

Hope this helps
